Primary focus is the taxonomy, systematics and biogeography of Australian macrofungi, in particular the truffle and truffle-like fungi. Other areas of interest are: habitat preferences, distribution and diversity of truffles and macrofungi in endangered habitats or in association with small mammals of conservation concern; and the effects of disturbance such as fire and logging on macrofungal diversity and community structure. An area I hope to develop some projects is investigations into introduced "weedy" fungi such as Amanita muscaria and Chalciporous sp. as potential invaders of native forests, and Amanita phalloides (Death-Cap), an introduced urban "weed" with potentially deadly consequences
