Genetics for epidemiologists and
epidemiology for geneticists
Sunday 17th September, Law School, University of Melbourne
Organised by the Australian Twin Registry (ATR)
and the Australian Medical Bioinformatics Resource (AMBeR)

This one day workshop aims to present the opportunities that new genetic knowledge, techniques and approaches have opened up for epidemiological research, and the potential for researchers to use nationally funded resources and facilities. It will also describe the important contributions that epidemiology can make to genetic research. Talks will be non-technical using language that can be understood by researchers from both disciplines.

The workshop will consist of invited presentations, a panel discussion, and posters. It will provide ample networking opportunities. Confirmed speakers include Tom Mack (University of Southern California), Lyle Palmer (WA Institute for Medical Research/University of Western Australia), Melanie Bahlo (Walter and Eliza Hall Institute), Sam Berkovic (Austin Health/University of Melbourne), Sue Forrest (Australian Genome Research Facility) and Graham Giles (Cancer Council Victoria).
