The Australian Institute of Energy (AIE) invites you to join us at the AIE National Conference 2006, to be held at the University of Melbourne, from 27-29 November. For the first time, the National Conference will incorporate the AIE National Postgraduate Student Energy Awards.
The conference theme, ‘Energy at the Crossroads’ reflects the difficult energy choices facing Australia in the immediate future. Major investment is overdue in much of our energy infrastructure. There are concerns about the adequacy of reserves, increasing prices and environmental impacts of fossil fuels. Climate change poses additional difficult choices. We are faced with the choice between acceptable levels of climate change, expensive renewable and sequestration technologies or nuclear energy with its issues of public acceptability, security and safety.
The AIE's objective is to facilitate informed debate on the important choices to be made by providing a balanced program covering these issues from various perspectives such as social, policy, economic and technical, with time allocated for discussion.
Potential authors, sponsors, postgraduate students and delegates are invited to register for the conference by completing and returning the Registration Form.
We sincerely hope that you are able to join us in Melbourne from 27th-29th November 2006 to contribute to this important debate on the decisions which will shape Australia’s energy future.
