CLICK HERE TO REVIEW THE FINAL PROGRAM
The Conference will comprise plenary and parallel sessions with a combination of invited and submitted papers and postgraduate student posters.
Papers will focus on the strategic, policy, technical, economic, environmental or social aspects of the following topics, or other energy matters relevant to the conference theme Energy at the Crossroads:
- Fossil fuels – coal oil, gas, oil shale – issues such as the adequacy of reserves, fluctuating prices, climate change, environmental impacts and advanced fuel technologies.
- Renewables – wind, solar, hydro, biomass, geothermal and ocean sources – their status and potential to contribute to short-term and long-term solutions.
- Nuclear power – including fusion – issues of public acceptability, security, safety, technology and waste disposal.
- Carbon reduction – the status, impact and cost of CO2 capture and storage, emission trading and the contribution of international agreements.
- Demand management – the ability to reduce energy consumption through demand management, life style changes and conservation, including improved efficiency in buildings, transport, the home and industrial processes.
- Other emerging energy options such as hydrogen as an energy carrier, gas to liquid conversions and bio fuels.
