Come and listen to, and have the opportunity to discuss issues with, Paul Wiles, Director, Research Development and Statistics, from the British Home Office. Paul has kindly offered to run a seminar/discussion group on: (a) outcomes from the Review of Crime Statistics, conducted jointly by the BHO and Her Majesty's Inspectorate of Constabulary, which examined police recorded crime data in the light of the British Crime Survey results; (b) the Review of Police Reporting Practices in the UK, which highlighted many of the issues surrounding the difference between crime reported to and recorded by the police; and (c) the broader purpose of official statistics in the light of technical change.

The location of the seminar will be decided on the basis of the number of participants, but is likely to be at the Melbourne University Department of Criminology building.
