Regional Forum Participants from the Asia and Pacific region will contribute to a Regional Forum consisting of three panels and one policy discussion as part of the Conference. The Forum will enable participants to share experiences about issues of conflict management, peace and reconciliation. Participants will identify and discuss key conflicts they are experiencing at the national level. The Forum program will involve three regional panels for which speakers were selected to attend according to geographical relevance. These panels have been identified as Pacific/Micronesia, Subcontinent and South East Asia panels. Panels will include presentations, discussion and information sharing. Policy Discussion A dedicated session will be allocated to policy discussion. In this session all Regional Forum participants will come together, providing an opportunity for the development of policy recommendations regarding regional peace and development issues. Tailored Conflict Management Training In addition, Regional Forum participants will undertake a tailored two-day Conflict Management workshop following the Conference (maximum 16 participants). The workshop will be an opportunity for participants to become familiar with further theory and practice in the field of conflict management and to identify where these models of conflict management fit with traditions of reconciliation processes embedded in their societies. This will assist in sustainability and capacity building through providing access to further practical hands-on conflict management skills. top |
